Registered or Licensed

Land surveyors registered or licensed to practice in another Canadian jurisdiction, who wish to practice land surveying in Manitoba are required to provide proof of membership in good standing in their home association and pass a jurisdictional examination administered by the Association of Manitoba Land Surveyors, pursuant to the Labour Mobility Provisions under the Canadian Free Trade Agreement.

APPLICATION TO WRITE THE JURISDICTIONAL EXAMINATION

The rules and regulations for writing a jurisdictional examination are contained in PART 16 of By-law No. 1 General By-laws of the Association of Manitoba Land Surveyors.  Further information, including the syllabus, can be found in the Guidelines Concerning the Rules and Regulations. Applicants shall submit a completed application Appendix 16-A and arrange for each association in which they are registered or licensed to forward a Certificate of Conduct Appendix 16-B to the Registrar of the AMLS. Examination fees must accompany the application and are $350.00 + GST for each of the first two attempts; for the third and subsequent attempts, the fee is $500 + GST.

WRITE AND PASS THE JURISDICTIONAL EXAM

Candidates writing a jurisdictional examination can be examined on any material which is unique to Manitoba practice. The examination is four hours in duration and the pass mark is 70%.
